Does anyone here have a bug zapper in their back yard?

If so, does it actually help get rid of the bugs you don't want? Or are they more trouble and harm than they're worth? For some reason I always see them at the homes of country people but I figured if bug zappers really killed mosquitoes or flies or roaches they'd be as popular as paper license plates around here. TIA!
