Do you think Texans have done much work on the top QBs and that could factor into a Watson trade?
Watson signed his contract extension in September and played phenomenal, wanted to be in Houston until just recently when ownership fucked it up. That means the Texans have been worry free about QB until just recently. Now I’m not sure exactly how front offices work, but I assume they do not spend much time scouting top QB draft prospects when they have a young and elite QB. If the Texans haven’t done much scouting on Wilson, Fields, or Lance, they obviously are not going to trade Watson yet. They’ll spend a lot of work looking into them and evaluating to see if one of them is a franchise guy and then it’ll make more sense to trade Watson. I just can’t see them trading Watson right now when I’m assuming they haven’t done much work on the top QB guys. I think if they like one of them, they will be a lot more comfortable with trading Watson and getting their guy plus a lot of picks/players. Now if they don’t like one of them after doing a lot of evaluation on them, I would assume they are much much more hesitant on trading him.
