Do you hope Watson succeeds in Cleveland?
Although I understand the difficult situation for both parties(an insane understatement), I felt I was part of the few that always hoped everything would work itself out with him and the team until the VERYYYYYYY end. Now that he’s finally gone, I don’t really know how I should feel about him.
On one hand he’s an AMAZING young talent, leader, and showstopper that when stepped out onto the field, played his heart out for this city and even put himself at risk to win us games. After dealing with O’Brians incompetence for so long, he just wanted to surround this team with ppl who he believed would be a suitable fit for him and the franchise. So I can imagine being THE future of a franchise and not having ANYY input on who they hire to be head coach, and how that can create a “rift”.
On the other hand he chose himself in a team sport, and instead of giving the head coach a chance to prove himself(personally didn’t like the hire either), he just chose to leave. And OBVIOUSLY their were “other” matters into him wanting to force a trade faster, but if you truly felt that it was just a hire that made you want to leave , it’s pathetic. So many HOF QB’s endured tough starts to their careers because of management, but they trusted their team and it ended in an amazing career for them. You’ve been with a team for 3-4yrs and just signed an INSANE 5yr contract(if I remember correctly), and you end up SITTING for a whole year because you wanted to prove a point? This will always be a stain in your legacy because you truly are better than this.
So I want to ask you ladies and gents what you personally think about the situation. Do you hope or even care if he wins a Super Bowl elsewhere? Will you be rooting for teams that play against his? Could you imagine a far or near future where you forgive him if this team find itself another star talent in the QB role? Genuinely curious on everyone’s thoughts.
