Do y’all see Culley fulfilling his entire contract here?
As you all know the Texans agreed to a 5 year contract with David Culley.
Currently he is 65 years old and is the oldest man in NFL history to be hired as a first time head coach and is one of the oldest coaches in the league.
I know this is way too early to talk about this, but I just want to hear y’all’s predictions
Many view him as a bridge coach. When McCown was rumored to join the coaching staff he was seen as the successor and eventually take Culley’s spot after 2 or 3 years. And now, some view Pep Hamilton as the Texans’ future head coach based on his influence in us drafting Davis Mills and Nico Collins and that he will be the head coach in 2 or 3 years.
I personally don’t think Culley will be as bad as people predict him to be. He’s definitely charismatic and has a good energy that encourages the players, and really focuses on teaching the fundamentals. As far as play calling goes, who knows how much influence he’ll have in that aspect.
Since we’re predicted to go 0-17 according to Vegas, Culley should definitely get a pass for this next season as there shouldn’t be too high of expectations. Meaning he’s still not free from criticism but at the same time should not be on the hot seat.
I don’t know, I have a hard time seeing him be our coach for the next 5 years. I think whether or not he should continue to be our coach should be evaluated 2-3 years from now
Thoughts?
