Do NOT go to Texan CJDR in Humble
My husband and I went last night to check out a new Jeep he's had his eye on. Website listed the price at $28,550. Took it for a test drive, he really likes it and tells the sales guy he's ready to move forward.
We go inside, fill out the paperwork for them to pull our credit, blah blah blah. The guy then comes back with the paper that shows the price is now sitting at almost $39k. He sees my eyes go wide and he goes, "Ok, let me explain first." He then walks through all these other fees that got tacked on, including $7,995 of "additions", I believe the description said.
My husband was like, "Um, WTF are these for?" The guy was like, "Oh, there's a 2 inch lift, aftermarket tires and rims on there and that's what that cost is." Husband says, "Nah bro, that Jeep is listed on your website for $28,550 and that's what I came in here expecting to pay. I'm out – this is pretty much the textbook definition of a bait-and-switch. We're leaving."
Sales guy goes and gets his manager who then proceeds to try and say that "we have a disclaimer on our website about the cost potentially being different and we have that lift and bigger tires and you can't just get that for free" yadda yadda yadda.
Husband and I were like "no, you can't advertise one thing and then be like 'oh we put all this extra s**t on there that isn't mentioned anywhere on the build sheet' and then surprise people with an extra $8k right at the end." It was total bullshit – my husband was so pissed and is still upset this morning lol
I understand the TT&L and the other fees that come with buying a vehicle, but that was just straight deceptive.
