do i have to go to court??

hi guys! this may sound like a really stupid question buuut if I receive a citation do I have to attend court? I just got a citation for an expired registration (06/24) (yea i know) and a failure to update address on DL, since I moved a couple of months ago! I was rlly nervous so I didnt want to ask him anything LOL but I have never gotten a citation and he mentioned attending court? I assumed I could just pay the fees and update what I need to update but I read the instructions but I am still so lost on this, I appreciate if someone can dumb it down for me!
