Diversity in the city

Hey all,

I am from Middle East and I’ll be finishing my MBA in the States this year. I have 3 options within the US to move: SF, NYC, Houston. As someone from Middle East, my mind initially immediately went to SF and NYC because that is what you are exposed to from media but as I read more and more I started to feel like I might be bothered by the safety and homelessness in these cities.

My concern with Houston is that would I feel like outsider in the city? I know that Houston is diverse with a large Black and Hispanic population but I feel like Middle East has a different rep compared to Asia or Latin America. I’d hate it if I ever felt judged because of my religion or ethniticity.

So I just wanted to get the perspective of locals to understand if my concerns are completely baseless or not.
