Disability Lawyer?

Hey! Long time lurker, never post. To be blunt, I have no clue where to ask this or where to even start on this.

TL;DR Got a good direction for a disability lawyer? No Healthcare doctor? Is that even where to start?

Facts of the matter:

  • researching for the husband, 38.
  • he's a US veteran, hasn't been to VA in years
  • VA is incredibly difficult to navigate
  • currently 40% mil. disability from VA
  • Back surgery 5 years ago
  • he can't work due to extreme pain
  • currently no health insurance

Story:

My husband, 38, has extreme back/sciatica pain that prevents him from working and living a normal life.

He was in the military from 2007-2013. Receives 40% disability from the VA, but hasn't been back in numerous years.

Back pain off and on for decades. Kicked up around 2018? Had back surgery in 2020 for a herniated disc. They warned, at the time, it would probably come back in 5-10 years.

He's in extreme pain. Can barely function.

No health insurance.

So…not only do I need to help him get pain relief (possibly another surgery?), but I need to help him see if he qualifies for disability. At this point, he can barely walk, so working is next to impossible.

I appreciate you reading this. I have no clue where to start. I'm sure this sub isn't the right one, but it's a starting point.

How can I help him get medical help and financial help? Thank you in advance!
