Day Road Trip for Bluebonnets and Picnic?

Hey y'all! I have a friend visiting Texas for the first time and would love to show her some of the beautiful bluebonnets I have been seeing pictures of.

I know most good spots are going to be in the Hill Country proper but I was curious if there are any good hot-spots about 1.5 hours max from about 45/99.
