Dating in Houston

Looking to get back into the dating scene pretty soon. I'm pushing 40 and got out of a double-digit long LTR last year. No kids.

How are things nowadays, specifically here? Friends keep telling me that it's awful and dating isn't how it used to be, people drop each other for the smallest things, etc.

I assume OLD is the new place to meet people? Seems super artificial but maybe I need to adjust my expectations.
