Daryl Morey proves that a great GM can fix all ills and misfortunes
I know it's a different sport, but the role and basic functions of general management is the same across all the major US sports. Morey has been making deals for the 76ers for only a couple days after being hired a few weeks back, and he is already putting the slumping 76ers in championship contention.
They needed to offload a massive trash contract of over the hill Al Horford that nobody thought was movable and was going to plague the franchise for years to come. There was also a lack of shooting around the two franchise cornerstone players who are both shooting limited. He made two great moves to get two of the best shooters in the league, and drafted another. The team that got swept out of the playoffs this year, could now come out of the conference this season.
I'm not expecting a GM to come in and make this team a superbowl contender in one season building out a football roster takes a lot longer, but just wanted to say that picking a right GM for the job is the most important thing, and can quickly change the fortunes of this franchise. Just thought it was kinda ironic that a former houston gm proved that.
