Creative Ideas re: Where to Get Nicer/Higher End Bike Frame Repainted?
Having a pretty difficult time finding a shop/craftsperson in the Houston area that does this sort of thing and hoping someone here has a suggestion or reference:
I've got a higher end mountain carbon frame mountain bike I'm restoring and need the frame re-painted as part of that restoration.
Not looking for any complex designs, gradients, or effects. Just a single color with the decals/lettering done in an accent color. I have pics and notes.
A lot of folks would just 'rattle can' it this isn't that type of project and it'll need to be a quality job.
My budget is set accordingly – I'm not expecting it to be cheap.
There are a few places around the country that do this but hoping to re-direct what I'd pay in shipping costs toward the actual paint job. Was leaning heavily toward one online shop but when they sent the quote over, their email read 'So if you're comfortable paying that fee and understand that we'll do our best but can't make any guarantees re: imperfections in the finish then go ahead and ship it to….' Last part was sort of a deal breaker – not that it needs to be showroom perfect by any means but for the price they were asking it didn't seem reasonable to me to also waive an expectation of quality end product.
Have talked to a couple of smaller 'custom auto body and paint' shops in town that said they'd do it and to send pics but neither followed up with me after several emails and calls have gone unreturned.
BikeBarn made a rec for a 'small batch' bike shop in EADO but they only powdercoat.
Appreciate any suggestions.
