Creative Freelancing In Houston

I'm a freelance writer/photographer, lived here for almost seven years and it seems crazy hard to find other creative freelancers in Houston. Used to be in a freelancer meetup group but it went dead when the pandemic hit, never revived, and was never super active to begin with. Feels like this city isn't great for people in creative fields and was wondering if anyone else had that experience.
