Crane and spending

With the Correa deal, can we finally put to bed the idea that Crane isn't a big spender? He's gone into the tax multiple times now (and now multiple years in a row, which is worse for the long term outlook) to improve the team.

We've had a top-10 payroll in baseball in five of the last ten years, including having a top-5 payroll twice in the last five years, when by MLB's own estimation we're the 15th sized market in MLB.

Yes, we'd all like to spend like the Dodgers or the Mets, but Crane continues to put a ton of money into our mid-market team for the sake of winning. From what I can find, we only (and only barely) cracked the top ten in payroll twice in the Drayton years.
