Coverage in the flats

Something I've noticed about this team is that we never seem to have the flats covered. It seems like every time the other team throws to the flats the guy is wide open and can get an easy 10-15 YAC.

Maybe I just haven't watched as much football this year, but I haven't really noticed this with other teams. Was wondering if anybody had some insight into this.

Is it an issue with our linebackers being slow/inexperienced? Is it a designed feature because we're scared of deep shots? It just seems to happen week after week and I was curious if others had noticed this and if they had any theories.
