Country Legends 97.1 is now K-Love 97.1

Sorry folks, but Houston has lost its only real country station (this modern tractor rap "country" on 92.9 and 100.3 doesn't count as country music in my book). The station lasted two decades and outperformed expectations despite its limited coverage over Houston.

Backstory as to why it happened; Cox Radio sold their stations in Houston (The Eagle 106.9 & 107.5, 93Q, & Country Legends 97.1) to Urban One (which own Majic 102, 97.9 The Box, and 92.1 Praise) earlier this year.

Due to FCC ownership limits, Urban One had to divest two stations. Country Legends 97.1 was sold to Educational Media Foundation (Christian broadcaster) and Praise 92.1 went to Spanish Broadcasting System. Unfortunately, the deal with EMF closed and today was the day that EMF took over the 97.1 signal. Instead of classic country, you'll now hear EMF's "K-Love" national network which features Christian music 24/7. 92.1 will probably flip to something in Spanish down the road.
