Cool spots in this city

What up Houston, visiting for a week while my dad gets an operation in the medical district. Going to have quite a bit of alone time to bike around and explore the city was seeing if some locals had any good recommendations for cool areas to check out or things to explore in this big ass city. Not into touristy things. good bars or sneaker stores to check out?
