Contemplating run against Ted Cruz

Hello my fellow Houstonians and redditors. I'm pretty fired up by the ongoing circus that is the US government. There are many things I enjoy doing with my time — working on old cars, sailing, photography, endlessly scrolling reddit, etc. However, I'm deeply contemplating declaring an exploratory candidacy against Ted Cruz. The election isn't until 2024, and the idea of spending years campaigning and fundraising to take him down is a bit daunting, but enough is enough. It's not just about the far left and the far right anymore. Almost 30 percent of the population is now living in a complete fantasy world. I know many of these people. They are intelligent people with good hearts, but they have fully bought into this delusion of Qanon and election fraud, etc. A huge part of the problem is that people like Ted Cruz feed the flames and exploit it for fundraising.

Cruz is an intelligent, educated man. He knows EXACTLY what he's doing. It's shameless, and it's disgusting how he bowed down to Trump like a beaten dog for the past four years.

My politics run straight down the middle, but the districts are so gerrymandered that I don't see any way to beat him as a Democrat, so I will most likely file as a Republican challenger.

I'm currently waiting for a response from my Compliance team at work in regard to any special processes I need to follow, so that I stay clear of any HR issues, so I don't jeopardize my job, and I've filed for an EIN with the IRS to set up an account for the exploratory portion of the campaign.

I guess what I'm asking is, would you vote for an honest candidate that operates on facts and speaks truth?

My second ask, if there's anyone out there who has run campaigns before willing to give advice or wanting to jump on board, please reach out. I have many years of experience in marketing and project management, but campaign finance is all new to me.

I understand this may all be for nothing as Ted Cruz may run for the Presidency again instead of his seat in 2024, but it we can at least send a message and dry up his financing, maybe that's enough.
