Concerns with HISD

Parents with kids in HISD, what are you most concerned about and how will you know when to pull out of HISD? Asking as a parent of a young one and don’t know how seriously I should be looking at private school options at this point. We’re zoned to good schools, but from what I understand, the grasps of the Empire grow ever further.
