Company developing Dallas-to-Houston high-speed rail project lays off 28 employees

Texas Central, the company behind the high-speed rail project between Dallas and Houston, is laying off more than two dozen employees as the economy slows amid the spread of COVID-19.

Dallas-based Texas Central did not say the project is canceled, but it has been impacted by the coronavirus outbreak around the world and is laying off approximately 28 employees in an effort “to make the best use of our current funding,” Carlos Aguilar, CEO of the company, said in a prepared statement.
