Commuting to downtown

Does anyone commute to downtown from Friendswood or League City, using I-45 during rush hour? Our family is growing and we are thinking about the dreaded move to the suburbs to buy a bigger house with a backyard, etc. None of my coworkers live in this area.

How long is the commute in from these areas? Can you take a commuter bus in? Would appreciate any information!
