Colonoscopy?

Due to my age, I want to do the recommended colonoscopy. However, I have never had surgery before (aside from C-section) and the thought of going completely under terrifies me—even though I know it would be for a short period of time. Do any doctors here in Houston do colonoscopies where you aren’t completely under?? Sort of like during the C-section (I had to struggle to stay awake). Thanks
