Code for backyard sheds in the city

Hi,

I want to build a shed in my backyard. A shed but it’ll be an art studio. Does it need to be 3 feet from my fence? That really takes up space in my precious yard since I’m in the heights. What do y’all think?? My fences are high so that you can’t see in my backyard from the side of the house…
