CJ is Iceman from Top Gun

Guys, Buckeye Texan here to talk y’all through CJ.

CJ is Iceman from Top Gun. He plays clean, no mistakes. Sticks to the game plan and is the best there is… but sometimes you need a Maverick to bail him out.

This is exactly who he was for Ohio state. Buckeye fans would always get so upset that CJ wouldn’t play hero ball like we were used to from previous QBs to save us or give us that HEISMAN moment. Just like Iceman in the movie, he stubbornly stuck to his guns and did the “smart move” or “best available move” even if it meant there was a risk of getting shot down. CJ always felt comfortable taking a sack if the play wasn’t there rather than risk a turnover. He always felt like playing smart all the way to the end EVEN IF WE WERE DOWN was the right call – in college you can’t do that bc you need to go undefeated to get to CFB (unless you’re a one loss Ohio state 😜), but in NFL you CAN do that. CJ stuck to his game and played well, but never got a little wild and put the Air Brakes on to watch the Mig fly right by.

That’s ok. That’s great, actually. Because CJ is missing some key playmakers that can be the difference next season. We don’t have a star RB. We don’t have a star WR1 (though nico is great). We don’t have a star TE. We don’t even have a star DE (but he’s heating up!!).

All I’m saying is love CJ for who he is. Iceman. No mistakes. Let’s find him a maverick to be his wingman, yeah?
