City of Houston District G: Today is our election day.

If you're a registered Houston voter in River Oaks, the Galleria area, Westchase, Briar Forest, the Energy Corridor and points in between, there's a special election happening today to choose a replacement for our council member Greg Travis. See here for a district map. More directly, your can check the county elections website. If you click "Sample Ballot" and a search for your name/address shows an active sample ballot, then they've been expecting you in this election.

There are nominally five candidates running, but I never found anything campaign related for Hank Taghizadeh who I guess filled out the paperwork as a vanity exercise. After early voting, turnout is underwhelming, even by local election standards. So if you haven't voted yet, know that your individual ballot has more leverage than usual to steer the results.
