Chicago To Houston? Any insight helps
Hi everyone, I wanted to get some firsthand insight into the culture of Houston and what it might be like for me to live there. I have an upcoming decision on whether or not to relocate from Chicago. I’ve heard some of the obvious differences like weather and traffic, but any additional understanding would help.
I’m a 26m in tech sales. The main reason I might move to Houston is due to a job offer, which does look good. When I’m in Chicago, I enjoy going out with friends, eating out, and going to concerts. I commute to work on the L, as I live in Bucktown which is very close to the loop in Chicago.
My girlfriend is 25f and is a nurse/NP. She has a car and drives half an hour to work everyday. She is just as outgoing as I am and enjoys the same things. We both certainly enjoy our time at home as well.
My biggest concern is just enjoying our potential life in Houston as opposed to Chicago. I’m visiting soon, but I can tell they are certainly very different cities. We would be effectively restarting our lives in certain ways. So meeting people, making new friends and having fun things to do would be top priorities. We have no kids and are not married and aren’t looking to do that for awhile.
