central electric heating??

Hello,

is there anyone who is using central electric heating in Houston? The home I am considering has central electric heating and I am not sure about the cost and the efficiency (I read it heats the water slowly compared to gas heating??). I assume electric heating is more expensive but I am not sure if that's bearable for me or not. I am new to Houston and my previous home had gas heating so I have no idea, and a leasing agent for this house was not really helpful about the utility bills.
