Centerpoint + State Politicians Gaslighting Us

This subreddit is rightfully calling out Centerpoint. Centerpoint deserves blame. There is still more blame to go around, and I notice that the state politicians who also deserve blame are gaslighting us by blaming everything on Centerpoint. They want to absolve themselves of blame. Don’t let that happen.

  1. Look at Entergy. The same problems probably would have happened with almost any other utility. Entergy operates power for areas north of Houston. They have the same issues as Centerpoint.

  2. The PUCT (Public Utilities Commission) has responsibility to regulate the utilities. They should have verified that the plans in place were adequate. Did they do their duty? https://www.puc.texas.gov/agency/rulesnlaws/subrules/electric/25.52/25.52.pdf

  3. The Governor appoints the members of the PUCT. The governor is accountable for the performance of this organization, and if it was deficient, the governor should have demanded the resignation of appointees.

I heard our Lieutenant Governor / acting governor quoted this morning, angrily saying there will be an investigation into Centerpoint. There should be one, but I suspect it will be done in a way to pin all the blame on them and none of it on the state agencies or politicians.

This is not a Republican vs Democrat post. Look at other states like California. They have similar problems holding their utilities to account. State politicians, whatever their party, need to be held accountable by the media and by us.
