CenterPoint reports 450,000 customers without power as Nicholas moves across Houston

Hurricane Nicholas made landfall in the Matagorda Bay area as a Category 1 storm early Tuesday morning but was later downgraded back to a tropical storm as it moved over the Houston area.

As of 8:04 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, Houston-based CenterPoint Energy Inc. (NYSE: CNP) reported 453,400 customers without power. CenterPoint serves most of the greater Houston area.
