CenterPoint fee question
Has anyone gotten an electricity bill this month ?
The Centerpoint (TDU Delivery) fees increased on 9/1/2021 from the 3.7435 ¢ per kWh 4.6029 ¢ per kWh. The $4.39 flat fee remained the same.
I got my bill for 08/10/2021 – 09/09/2021 and my provider charged me the higher rate even for usage in August. Is this legal ? Shouldn't they have billed for electricity usage in August at the old rate and used the new rate only for electricity usage done 9/1 or after ? I pulled my meter data from https://www.smartmetertexas.com/ and it's easy to see the usage per day.
FYI. Here is a table I created showing various usages and the costs.
| Usage | Old Rate (3.7435 ¢) | New Rate (4.6029 c) | Increase Of |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 kWh | $18.72 | $23.01 | $4.30 |
| 1,000 kWh | $37.44 | $46.03 | $8.59 |
| 2,000 kWh | $74.87 | $92.06 | $17.19 |
| 2,500 kWh | $93.59 | $115.07 | $21.49 |
| 3,000 kWh | $112.31 | $138.09 | $25.78 |
