CenterPoint Energy’s Failures During Hurricane Beryl: A Disastrous Display of Incompetence

I, like you, are fed up with Centerpoint incompetence.

Houstonians rely on CenterPoint Energy to be prepared for emergencies, especially during hurricanes. However, their recent handling of Hurricane Beryl has been nothing short of a disaster itself.

False Promises and Lack of Preparation:

Prior to Hurricane Beryl, CenterPoint assured the public they had thousands of workers staged and ready to respond. Alyssia Oshodi, the Director of Communications, confirmed this. Yet, just 32 hours later, they confessed that these workers were not stagged in Houston. How can a company entrusted with public safety be so blatantly unprepared? Millions of Houstonians, 2.3+ million, are suffering due to their incompetence.

Chaos and Confusion:

Reports are flooding in that dozens of trucks of CenterPoint contracted workers are sitting at Costco locations across Houston. These workers are left in the dark, unsure of what to do next, as the main office refuses to communicate with them. It's been three days since the storm hit, and essential services are still not reaching those in need.

Leadership Silence and Indifference:

Mayor Robin Elackatt of Missouri City has been shockingly silent throughout this crisis. His lack of communication with constituents is appalling. It's disgraceful that he hasn't addressed the city’s dire situation or offered support to those suffering without power. Even more egregious is the revelation that he doesn't reside in Missouri City and might not be affected by the power outages plaguing his constituents.

Houston deserves better. It's time for accountability from CenterPoint Energy, its leadership and Mayor Robin Elackatt. Their failures have exacerbated the suffering of thousands during Hurricane Beryl. Let’s demand answers and action from those responsible for this shameful neglect. Let's come together and message all our representatives who can hold them responsible.
