Car inspection

I just bought a used car and I got a check engine light that is on due to the computer needing to be replaced, the computer is very expensive so I can’t replace it right now but I need to have my car inspection done before the 20th of December.

I live in the Willis/conroe area and they require emissions testing because it’s Montgomery county.

Would I be able to drive an hour outside of my area and get my car inspected in a county that doesn’t not require emissions testing? Will I be able to register the car in my area with that inspection?

I’m sure someone has dealt w this issue before please help! Thank you!
