Car broken into

Well it happened, after 5 years being in the city I had my window smashed and car broken into. Happened in front of a planet fitness. This is the first time this happens to me, any advice on next steps? I called the police to file a report, is that a necessary step? I asked the gym about cameras but they don’t do it without the police, and they said police rarely comes when it happens which he said is a common occurrence, is there any benefit of it? Do insurance covers it? I have comprehensive but also a 2k deductible. This really sucks I’ve been trying to save to pay my student loans 🙁

Also, does anyone have a recommendation on a good car window repair shop? Preferably open till late or that opens very early? Thanks.
