Cancelling a Houston Chronicle Membership

Has anyone experienced difficulty or had a crummy experience cancelling a subscription to the Houston Chronicle ?

Typically they offer a reduced rate for a year, I accept, and forget about it until I notice the increased rate the next year. When I tried to cancel today I was repeatedly hung up on as soon as I declined the discount (screw you, Marvin)

It’s pretty disheartening that a business that largely deals with Houstonians would treat them that way. Has anyone experienced something similar ?
