Cancel My Trip?

Let me start this by saying I have no experience with hurricanes. My daughter and I have tickets to a show and hotel reservations for July 5th-7th. If the hurricane doesn't hit Houston, will there still be pretty major weather? Should I plan to cancel this trip either way?
