Can you volunteer at prisons/jails?
This popped into my head a few years ago, but I don't even know where to look to get answers on how to do it.
I've been a carpenter for about 15 years, but before the pandemic, was a full time Luthier (I built instruments) so I'd like to pass some of that on to some folks who might not have access to that kind of experience. Who knows, maybe someone will find they're a natural at it and have something to look forward to when they're released. I've never been incarcerated myself, so that appears to exclude me from the organizations that focus on prison assistance
Anywho, is it possible to volunteer in a prison or jail? I assume there has to be a way to select men or women to safely teach? Anywho, if anyone has done this, OR if you have contacts in the prison system, please let me know.
Side note, the only thing I could find on the internet was religious volunteering which doesn't really apply to me.
