Can you recommend a place to stay for an MD Anderson cancer patient coming in for treatment, please?

I have a friend coming in to town for about some tests and later, 6 weeks of treatment at MDA. He'll be staying at Rotary House for the test visits, but would prefer another place for the longer-term stay (to save money and because he and family members traveling with him don't want to be in a 100% cancer-focused apartment – it can be depressing).

If you've been in a similar situation and have specific recommendations for nearby Med Center / Rice / West U extended stay options -or know anything to avoid!- I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences. He will have a car so parking is a consideration.
