Can you pay the fee to break your lease early in payments
I am likely going to have to move into my car for the foreseeable future. I moved into an apartment at the beginning of the year that was only 1/4 of my income, but lost my second job due to layoffs. I was making enough (barely) to cover everything with two jobs, but all my total expenses with insurance, and healthcare and gas and utilities have increased to a point I can no longer afford rent, and down to just one job I can't do it anymore. I have applied all over to another job but I'm not getting any traction, Ive been driving ubereats and doordash every day after my regular 9-5 and for 6-8 hours every weekend day, but I barely make an extra 150-200 from that a week if I am lucky, not to mention the massive amount of money I spend on gas now.
I pay around $950 a month in rent, likely can afford 1 more month (but late) but beyond that there is no way I can afford rent and still have 6 months left on my lease. I asked my landlord to break the lease early but if I can't even afford this months rent, how am I suppose to pay the cost to break the lease.
I am asking if anyone has ever gotten the chance to move out without an eviction but agreed to pay the cost of breaking the lease + additional fees over time like a payment plan.
I will be living out of my car for a while, I should be able to save (hopefully) more income and use that to pay the fee, I am just wanting to avoid an eviction so in a year or so if I have enough money I can maybe get another apartment.
Thanks!
