Can We Talk About House of Blues?
Like many music venues, the staff at HoB was famously and undeservedly pompous for many years, but they hit a peak pre-covid where one could actually ENJOY a show there without them shitting all over the vibe and experience.
My first visit back post-covid may be one of the worst concert events of my life, and I saw MosDef at ACL. It's a high/low bar, is what I'm saying; and they
Foregoing checking bags prior to entry, which they've always done, they now demand you *leave* your bag and personal belongings with a 'bag valet', who then demands $10 (cash only) and hands you a ticket designed to be lost.
It's illogical and vulgar, with the added bonus of completely disregarding the needs of paying customers/concertgoers.
Direction unchanged, I predict HoB becomes a cliché of itself, and ultimately a smarmy safehouse for scumbag wealthy deviants and their Russian hookers in under 10 years.
Thank God for White Oak. It ain't perfect, but it ain't that bougie bullshit, either!
