Buying home south of MacGregor Park

My fiancé and I are considering buying a home in the area just south of MacGregor Park and west of MLK Boulevard. We love the house but are unsure about the safety of the neighborhood. Does anyone have any useful insight into this?

For reference, we are both young professionals with no children.
