Buying a car as a Houston Newbie

Hey so if anyone has followed my posts I moved to houston last year from nyc. I’ve liked the food scene in the city and obv the low cost of living but one thing I’ve realized is that a car is a must here.

Thankfully unlike a lot of other NYC millennials I do know how to drive.

But I have no clue on how to go about buying a car. I’ve never had to buy one.

I’m looking for a used car in the $15-20k range and I have no clue on where to start. Can someone please guide me on how should i go about this.

Any tips would be appreciated.

A few people have suggested Facebook marketplace or Craigslist but I’m wondering how would I know if it’s a full functioning car with no issues. I have no reference of being able to ‘stress test’ a car.
