Building codes in Houston

Howdy y’all.

I was wondering if someone could give me some insight into Houston building codes.

Long story short, my apartment was built with a ductless exhaust fan in the bathroom. There’s no window for ventilation. This is against code correct?

The apartment complex just sent out an email saying that if we notice too much moisture in our bathrooms, or if they (the apartment complex) notices too much moisture, we are going to be required to buy a dehumidifier for the bathroom. They also suggested that we take shorter showers and cook with lids on our pots.

If our bathroom is not up to code, do I have any recourse? There was a mildew/moisture addendum in the new lease we signed last year, so I am pretty sure they are aware of a problem…

Any insight would be rad and if you do think it’s against city ordinance or code, if you could site the code identifier for me that would be really cool also!
