Bring Austin Tice Home
|
Twelve years ago Austin Tice was kidnapped at a border control point while reporting in Syria. Austin is a Houston native, a former vet Captian of the US Marine deployed in Afghanistan & Iraq, an Eagle Scout and an award winning freelance journalist. After leaving the Marines and remaining in their reserves Austin went to Georgetown for law school. Between his second and final year of law school he made the decision to go Syria to report on the Civil War happening there because he felt he could do some good by being on the ground in the middle of a war very few could or would report on. He attended a birthday party and the following day was detained at a checkpoint. After he was kidnapped his captors released a short haunting video of him blindfolded praying to whatever God, theirs and his. Copies of it can still be seen if you search for him. There is good reason to belive he is still alive. Please take a moment today, send a message to your favorite content creators, or email a letter to your representatives. Or just pause and think about Austin, imagine spending the last twelve years in prison where the country that is holding you won't even admit you exist. If you knew Austin, please share your story or this one or visit and share any of the articles or clips that have been made. As of now his is the longest detained American journalist being held by any country. Do not forget him, lets bring him home. FREEAUSTINTICE submitted by /u/DMmeDuckPics |
