Braeswood park condominiums area

I'll probably be staying in this area for sometime (have some work here). Wanted to know about the safety profile of the surrounding area (female, 20s, would be staying alone). I've heard that there are grocery stores and some restaurants in the nearby area, wanted to know if it's safe to walk to those places. Also, I've never been to Houston, so, if anybody could recommend safe localities, I'd be grateful.
