Black New Yorker here… got a question regarding racism in TX.

First off, let me start by saying I’ve never been to Houston (or the South period) but I’ve heard great things – people who look like me striving, Southern cuisine, I could go on and on.

However, the one thing stopping me from considering Houston (and a large majority of the South) is my large (irrational?) fear of racism.

Obviously Houston is diverse… but what happens when I need to drive to (input random town in TX) and my car breaks down in a majorly white town?

Do any of you have stories of this happening? Am I being incredibly irrational? Thank you in advance!

PS: I don’t mean to be divisive, this is pure curiousity.
