Big Lots again ups number of planned store closures

Big Lots Inc. has again increased the number of stores it plans to close.

The Ohio-based retailer in June said it expected to close 35 to 40 stores in 2024, but that figure grew to nearly 150 in the past month.

It’s gone up again.

According to a July 31 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Big Lots (NYSE: BIG) now expects to close up to 315 stores.

That’s about 22% of its current 1,389 stores.
