Best Apartments, preferably close to the VA.

We just found out that we are moving to Houston for residency in January and are overwhelmed by the number of apartments. What are the better areas and better apartment buildings to look at? I’d prefer to stay somewhat close to the VA as this is where my residency will be. I was looking at the Fairmont in the Museum District and the Oriental Pearl apartments. Honestly we are just so overwhelmed as all of this is happening so fast and we are kind of freaking out a bit. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
