Besides shopping malls, museums and art exhibitions, is there any interesting (safe) place for solo exploring the city?

Hi, I recently moved to Houston permanently. I do like spending me time alone sometimes exploring the city. Like the title, I wonder if there is any interesting and safe place to wander.

I live in the very southeast of the city but I don't mind driving. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
