The offense is sus

I’ve been a fan since roughly 08. Years of hot and cold with Schaub, and when we got Deshaun I was chugging the kool aid and thought we were a superbowl team. Idk if it’s cuz I got burned there, but I’m having trouble buying in fully to this offense in…

Deshaun?

Obviously Deshaun has had a tough go of it this year with absolutely trash oline and no run game. Weapons that can’t get open besides tote ends. But he still seems like he’s a bit off mentally right now. He historically has been good for 20-50 yards a game rushing depending on the situation. He had a few plays today that could have been good gains on the ground but he throws at the last minute and usually it’s a low ball. It seems like he’s unsure of himself right now, idk if it’s BoB, or if he’s just taken a hit to his confidence, but I want our boy back….

Coaching prospects

I see a lot of people talking about Dabo but I think Urban Meyer or Lincoln Riley would be better personally. I also see Josh McDaniels name getting thrown around but I’ve had enough of Houston trying to get Patriots staff members. We need a coach who can change the culture.

One issue I have is Deshaun has the talent to carry us to the playoffs consistently, but every great QB that had a shot has a solid oline. BoB did a good job of addressing the most important part of the oline but he’s acting like the problem has been fixed and it’s far from fixed. Russ and Deshaun have been the only QBs to overcome horrendous offensive line play, but neither of them have gone deep in the playoffs in recent years and it starts with protection. I love Tunsil but we need more talent and chemistry on this line.

An optimists perspective

I see a lot of negativity here and I’m just going to try and be optimistic. Here are some things to keep in mind:

  1. The offense other than Watson, Fuller, and the O line is almost totally new. No OTAs and no pre-season, they are still figuring each other out and meshing.

  2. The two best teams in the league are now behind us

  3. In mid season form we can go toe to toe with just about anyone. When Deshaun is at his normal level he can take over a game and give us a shot to beat anyone. Like I said before he’s learning his new weapons still.

  4. Deshaun Watson is a top 5 QB. The guy is elite. In 2018 he had a rough start coming back from injury but by week 4 had himself back to his usual self and won us the division. If nothing else believe in Deshaun, the dude is an all time talent and will be one of the top 2-3 QBs in the league for most of his career.
