Hit and run totalled the car, seeking advice. Pictures of the hitting car attached.

Last night, there was a party going on till 3AM in a neighborhood house with dozens of cars parked along the street in our Richmond subdivision (near Hwy99 & WestPark tollway).

At around 5AM this morning (Sunday), my other neighbor’s car (Nissan Versa) was found badly damaged. A tow truck was towing the Mercedes that had rammed into my neighbor’s car. A cop was there too. The driver of the Mercedes had absconded and the onstar service had summoned the cops. The partying neighbors deny knowing anything about the Mercedes or its driver and we have no choice but to give them the benefit of the doubt.

This is not a pass-through street and the intensity of collision was significant, pushing the Nissan into a fire hydrant. Unfortunately, my neighbor’s insurance doesn’t cover UM (uninsured motorist) or hit and run cases.

Is there any recourse to get to the Mercedes owner and claim damages from their insurance? It just feels wrong that people can do this, collect their vehicle, and walk away. Will appreciate any advice.

License Plate: JOSE L R

Edit: a lawyer friend looked up and provided the owner name and the address (also located in Richmond).

Many Houston area homes have burst pipes and are out of water supply and facing difficulties. The stores are completely out of CPVC parts (used for potable water). If anyone has spare parts, please list them here so we can help each other out.

I too am looking for a 5ft length of 0.5" CPVC pipe, an elbow, and a coupler to repair my burst kitchen pipe on my own. I spent the past day and a half looking for it with no luck. Many homes have leftover parts after repairs since some of these c…

Camping in Houston State Parks – best facilities, wildlife, scenery?

After years of day trips to state parks, I decided to try renting cabins for over-night stays and I’m hooked. With spouse and little kids, it works out perfectly. I’ve tried Brazos Bend and have scheduled for Huntsville Park.

Would appreciate any recommendations on other good parks in a 4 hr radius from Houston which have a cabin, lake/river, & abundant wildlife. My kids are really into reptiles – is there any trick to spotting lizards and snakes when hiking at Huntsville Park & other parks? Thanks!
